- Bio:Valerie is an American freelance journalist based in New York City and Kabul specializing in print, video and photography. She recently covered the 2014 presidential elections in Afghanistan. Before pursuing journalism, she held a decade-long career in international development where her work took her to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Senegal, Vietnam, Indonesia and Haiti. Valerie holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Colorado College and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
