Associated Reporters Abroad (ARA) is a Berlin-based
journalism agency taking a fresh approach to providing news coverage
of Europe. Ours is an original experiment in international journalism
and we believe our timing couldn't be better. With news budgets
shrinking and foreign bureaus closing, providing readers with informed,
in-depth reporting from overseas has never been this challenging.
We think it's time to reverse the trend.
How we work
ARA connects editors in the US and across the English-speaking world
with our network of correspondents across the continent and beyond,
providing news organizations the stories they need, when they need
them. ARA sends out a regular e-bulletin featuring a new round of
story ideas from around Europe and selected countries in the Middle
East and North Africa. If an editor is interested in one of the
stories, he/she assigns it. Conversely, if editors have a specific
idea for a story they want, they assign it through our agency. Then
the editor works directly with our correspondent to complete the
project. Our editorial team ensures that editors receive clean,
accurate copy that meets the highest standards of journalism. Working
in all major formats - print, audio, video and photography - our
goal is to offer quality, affordable coverage of news developments
throughout the European continent.
Why ARA
Now more than ever, readers are hungry to understand the world better
and they deserve more than just the news wires. With our network
of journalists, ARA fills in where a traditional model of foreign-based,
salaried correspondents no longer applies. Berlin, Paris, Istanbul,
Kiev and Prague... Europe's most exciting cities just got a whole
lot closer. The ARA team looks forward to working with you!
